Data Science Associate II: Engineering Lead

Summary: Data Science Associate 2 will be responsible for the creation, implementation, and quality control of models throughout the organization as well as supporting the analytics needs of the operations and executive teams per the direction of the Manager of Data Science. The principal objective of the Data Science Associate 2 is to execute modeling projects in accordance with the strategic objectives of the business and the goals of the Data Science Team, which include implementation of predictive tools, creation of meaningful measurements of internal performance, creation of tools to allow for analytics against large volumes of data, and expansion of advanced analytics as a service provided by GRG. Execution of these responsibilities will require thorough understanding of varied statistical modeling techniques, as well as technical proficiency in SQL, R, and Python. This role will require and end-to-end skillset from data organization and retrieval through presentation and communication.


  • Use SQL, R, and SSIS to organize data for modeling projects
  • Design models in R and Python
  • Analyze and model structured data using advanced statistical methods and implement algorithms and software needed to perform analyses
  • Perform machine learning, natural language, and statistical analysis methods, such as classification, collaborative filtering, association rules, sentiment analysis, topic modeling, time-series analysis, regression, statistical inference, and validation methods. These tools will be used to differentiate and strengthen lien, medical record, and claims processing capabilities. 
  • Perform explanatory data analyses, generate and test working hypotheses, prepare and analyze historical data and identify patterns
  • Maintain existing modeling projects by periodic review and quality monitoring

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience
  • Extensive knowledge of data science and analytics tools particularly R and Python
  • Extensive knowledge of SQL
  • Ability to execute a modeling project in a complete, end-to-end capacity
  • Excellent communications skills, including presentation
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Excellent organization skills and follow-up
