Senior Java Developer

At GRG, Application Developers design, build, and maintain complex software of all types and through all phases of the SDLC. They are active contributors, identifying opportunities to improve processes and align technology to get the job done faster and more accurately. Using a lab-centric model, developers work as part of a cohesive team to learn the business, understand the needs, and create solutions in a fast-paced, iterative environment. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand Garretson’s strategic and competitive position and deliver software that is recognized as the best in the industry
  • Develop, test, debug, maintain, and document web-based applications
  • Adhere to and enforce standards and best practices across the team to deliver high-quality code
  • Facilitate design and planning sessions and provide time and scope estimates
  • Document technical requirements, perform code reviews, and mentor younger developers
  • Provide system-specific support as required, both during the standard work day and after hours and on weekends as required
  • Think creatively, work collaboratively, and do whatever it takes to get the job done.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

  • 7+ years hands-on experience with Java/J2EE programming
  • Experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, AngularJS, and Bootstrap
  • Experience with WCF/SOAP-based services as well as REST/JSON-based services. JSON experience is a must-have. OData (v4) experience a plus
  • Experience with MongoDB or similar NoSQL-based database systems
  • Beneficial experience to have: SQL Server, ASP.NET 3.5+ using C#, WebAPI, WebForms, MVC using Razor, TypeScript, RabbitMQ, Python, Entity Framework 6+
  • Intimate knowledge of design patterns, application architecture, and industry-standard coding practices
  • Understanding of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Messaging Oriented Architecture (MOA)
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies
  • Experience using Team Foundation Server (TFS) or SVN, specifically source control and work item tracking
  • Extremely detail oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Temperamental fit to fast-paced, quick release environment. Able to adapt quickly to shifting business needs.
